The ceremony will take place on August 8th, before the Patriots kick off the preseason opener against Washington.

The Patriots released a video on the team’s X account Thursday, announcing that a statue of legendary quarterback Tom Brady will be unveiled at Gillette Stadium on August 8th.
The ceremony will be held before New England’s preseason opener against the Washington Commanders. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The video included highlights from Brady’s two-decade long stint with the franchise and a clips from his Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which took place last June.
Plans for the statue were announced by team owner Robert Kraft at Brady’s Patriots Hall-of-Fame ceremony last year.
“We commissioned a local sculptor to create a larger-than-life, bronze statue to perpetuate the legendary legacy of this once-in-a-lifetime player,” Kraft said.
The statue will be 12-feet tall, a nod to the No. 12 that Brady wore on his Patriots jersey. It will be made of bronze. Brady will become the first Patriots player to get a statue at Gillette Stadium, which opened in 2002, months after Brady won the first of his seven Super Bowls.
Brady, widely considered to be one of the greatest players in league history, has more Super Bowl wins than any franchise. The Patriots and Steelers are tied for the most championships among teams with six.
Brady’s hometown San Francisco 49ers are in second-place with five. Brady won his first six championships with the Patriots and captured another with the Buccaneers.
Brady made 15 Pro Bowl appearances, won five MVP awards, and practically rewrote the league’s record books.
He is the NFL’s all-time leader in game-winning drives, passing attempts, completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns, and 3,000 yard passing seasons.
Brady’s No. 12 jersey has been retired by the franchise, and Kraft waved the customary four-year waiting period for the team’s Hall-of-Fame for Brady.
Brady last played for the Patriots in 2019, and retired from the NFL in 2022.
The announcement of the statue unveiling was made on June 12th, the one-year anniversary of Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame ceremony.
