Brad Marchand obtained good luck from his youngsters in voicemail

On Tuesday night, Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers raised the Stanley Cup after defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6. 

Before the game started, the former Bruins captain received a voicemail from his three children, his daughters, Rue and Sawyer and his stepson Sloane, wishing him luck in the game. 

“Congratulations getting on the Stanley Cup finals. It’s a lot of work and effort that you have to put in for it,” said Sawyer, who is 5-years-old. 

“No matter what happens in the game, we’re still proud of you. You’ve still got us and we’ve got you.”

Marchand and his wife Katrina got married in 2015, when her son Sloane was 4 years old. He is now 14. 

“It’s been so awesome to watch you over my whole childhood and growing up and seeing the man you’ve become and all that you’ve done,” said Sloane.

The winger has played in four Stanley Cup Finals, winning his second title with the Panthers on Tuesday. His previous win was in 2011 with the Boston Bruins. 

“No matter what happens in the game, we’re so proud of you. You’ve still got us and we’ve got you,” said Sawyer. 

Marchand was the center of a trade shipping him from Boston to Florida in March. In return, the Bruins received a conditional second-round pick in 2027. 

After the trade, the 37-year-old helped the Panthers claim the title, when he most notably netted the game-winning goal in Game 2 to even the series.  

“Just know we’re all very proud of you over here,” said Sloane. “And no matter how this year comes to an end and how these finals end up, just know we all love you and support you and you’ve always got a family here with open arms when you come home.”
